So, we’re back from the UK NATIONAL AIRSOFT FESTIVAL which proved, despit all the blather online beforehand to be an excellent weekend which we’ll be talking about in the new issue on 15 SEPTEMBER!

However, although we were back in the office yesterday to work on the event report, we missed our usual MONDAY GUNDAY slot, so we thought we’d make up for it today by looking at one of our favourite AKs (how surprising!) of the moment…

The TM AKX has been with us a little while now thanks to iWHOLESALES, but we thought we’d wait a bit until we gave out verdict, and suffice to say after having their AKM GBBR in the armoury for some considerable time this modernised version has gripped us positively too!

So the spiel goes “the Tokyo Marui AKX gas airsoft rifle is Tokyo Marui’s attempt to modernise the aging AKM or AK47 platform by making it an SBR (short barrel rifle), giving it Picatinny top rails, M-LOK handguards, and foldable stock. With these out-of-the-box modifications of the Tokyo Marui AKM gas airsoft rifle, the AKX allows you to take it to any field and gives you the option to mount different accessories to your gas airsoft rifle such as flashlights, lasers, and optics, which the original AKM could not provide.”

And yes, it does all of this, and it looks as cool as it sounds! It’s also got a little of that old “TM Unicorn Poop/Pixie Dust” in the mix as it performs every bit as well as you’d expect!

We’ll continue testing this for another month or so and then give our final verdict, but if you’re considering a modern, tactical gas AK then TM appear to have got this pretty right as far as we can see so far!
