It really is proving a GREAT year so far for GBB-lovers out there, with it would seem almost constant releases from many manufacturers, with even more to look forward to as we head on into 2024 Q4!
And leading the charge are our very good friends at VEGAFORCECOMPANY (VFC), and having updated their MP5 category (a full review from Stewbacca of the latest model will be in ISSUE 166 on the 15th!) they’ve once again set their sights on “Mr Colt’s Best Gal” in the form of the M16A2 GBBR.
Stewbacca has been invited to the official launch of this new gas rifle at VFC HQ in Taiwan, and it looks to be yet another gasser that will tax his poor groaning airsoft-wallet!
What we can tell you already is that the VFC Colt M16A2 GBB is fully licensed by Colt and Cybergun, and that externally, it has full M16A2 style furniture and features, with a bird cage style flash hider, A2 style iron sights, handguard, pistol grip, and stock.
One thing that changes this out from what’s come before is the fire controls group, so instead of the usual Safe, Semi, and Auto, the “Auto” is switched to “Burst” for a 3-round burst, the new model we’re told does actually have a 3-BB burst function! The attention to detail apparently doesn’t end there as it has period correct, early styled deep engraved Colt markings on the receiver as well as on the bottom of the 30-round gas magazine that is provided as part of the deal.
Internally, the new rifle runs on the tried and tested VFC V3 AR gas system with an updated valve knocker system, a zinc bolt carrier, and of course the VFC 30 BB V3 gas magazine to feed the system.
We expect the M16A2 to perform just as solidly as any other VFC-made AR gas rifles we’ve had to date, and that is superbly but of course, as is the “AA Way”, only time and thorough field-testing will show if this is truly the case.
