It’s been a little while since we featured a pistol from G&G ARMAMENT in AIRSOFT ACTION although we loved the PIRANHA and GTP9 variants (both of which you’ll find reviewed via our BACK ISSUES function), but that’s not for want of them continuing to pump out new handgun GBBs in line with their ongoing AEG and long gun GBBR programs!

At IWA earlier this year Bill and Jase had a chance to get their hands on the latest G&G STP45 pistol models, and they were both impressed with the build quality and the new features that were apparent.

Although G&G have produced “1911” style models in the past, we all like a Hi Capa, don’t we, and G&G have finally put one together! As G&G told us at the time this is fully “TM compatible”, so the only proprietary parts are the nozzle assembly and the grip safety, but that’s not to say that the latest STP45 models don’t show G&G’s undoubted flair for innovation!

The recoil spring guide houses a handy tool that can be used to adjust both the trigger sensitivity and the patented PAI hop-up system, so you can adjust the hop-up on the fly to one of  THIRTY-NINE different, and G&G tell us that this means the pistols can handle BB weights of up to 0.48g!

With some very clean “tacticool” styling the STP45s certainly look the part too! There was a small family of models shown at IWA, with one model offering a lightweight polymer slide for speed of cycle, and the 8” STP45 PRO having a metal slide for that all-important grunt; all the models offer much the same in terms of features, but with some obvious enhancements on the PRO model, and the guys reported that “dry function” was exemplary.

We’ll be looking in more depth at the STP45 PRO once our range testing is complete, but we certainly hope that this is the start of a re-energised GBB pistol program from our friends in Taiwan!
