Some of you may know, but when Bill disappears during our “Easter Recess” he usually heads off into the hills somewhere with a bunch of gear that he wants to test, and to kick off his findings this year he had a LOT of good things to say about the PENTAGON HOPLITE PARKA!
He told us:
“This year we headed south in France to the Aveyron area; most will know it given its proximity to the summer-popular Gorges du Tarn and its stunning scenery. However, we stayed a little away from the gorge itself and headed out onto the surrounding trails, climbing high up onto the plateau… seemingly a popular training zone for the French military as we bumped into a bunch of them on our travels!
However, one of the bits of kit I took with me to test out was the PENTAGON HOPLITE PARKA, and I’m glad I did, as although we had one bizarre day where it reached 27 degrees, most mornings were chilly and misty.
The HOPLITE PARKA was ideal in this environment, so I’d say 100% perfect for Safe Zone use where you need to stay warm between games. Thanks to the material used (a nylon Taslan fabric) that is breathable and transports moisture away from the body, at the same time it will not allow water to penetrate as it features a laminated construction offering 5000 mm/MPV 5000 gr2/24h so will defeinitely help to keep you and snug. d this that the outer layer features a DWR Teflon coating, and teflon is naturally water repellent. This all is backed up by taped seams.
You also get under-arm dual-direction mechanical ventilation zips with insect repellent mesh, waterproof zips, a three-point adjustable hood and adjustable cuffs, For ease there are plenty of pockets, and the hand pockets are lined with fine fleece just as is neck area. Other pockets are dual slant chest pockets, and an internal document pocket.
Overall the design is quite simple… which of course means there’s less to fail when you least want it to! Simple it may be, but effective it most certainly is, and after being comfortable on drizzly, damp and cold-windy mornings I can thoroughly recommend this jacket to you!”
Available in Tan (pictured), Green, Black, and Woodland camo you’ll find the PENTAGON HOPLITE PARKA in most good specialist retailers, but the test model came from www.military1st.co.uk
