Whether you’re a fan of HPA systems or not, and there still seems to be a LOT of debate over this, the fact is that this type of “OS” is steadily gaining a whole host of fans worldwide, and even the most hardcore AEG or GBBR user should be able to see that there are many, many benefits from a well-tuned HPA setup if you don’t go crazy with the ROF!

One of the main considerations for existing owners and users of both AEGs and GBBRs though has been that of cost as much as anything given that they have huge investments in their existing “tech”.

However, the new ARES HEB-001 and HEB-001-S (Semi-Only/DMR) HPA Complete V2 Gearbox Sets that we first saw at MOA could well change this, coming in as they do around the UK£200 mark and offering all the utility of HPA at a cost far lower than many out there!

With the ARES engine they tell us that you’ll get “superior performance, consistency, and trigger response at a fraction of the cost of traditional HPA systems, with easy drop-in installation for Tokyo Marui/Ares M4 AEGs.”

The key features look good too;

  • HPA Efficiency: Harness the power of compressed air, CO2, or gas for superior consistency and responsiveness.
  • Versatile Compatibility: Seamlessly integrates with your Tokyo Marui or ARES M4 AEG Series.
  • Electronic Precision: Features advanced electronic circuits and a single-sided selector for enhanced control.
  • High-Performance Power: Requires 4 BAR and above air pressure and an 11.1v battery with a TX30 connector for optimal performance.
  • Enhanced Trigger Response: Includes a curved trigger for improved accuracy.
  • Complete Conversion Kit: Everything you need to convert your AEG to a high-performance HPA system.

Is this a “game changer”? Well the price is most certainly attractive, but only time will tell; the initial response we can see to the new ARES HEB-001 and HEB-001-S though in the community has been overwhelmingly positive.

Tim at iWholesales (who look after the ARES brand here in the UK) tells us that the new engines offer “a stress-free, performance-centred drop-in solution for HPA users”, and that they’ve already had a chance to see just what’s possible with the new engines; Bill will be paying iWholesales a visit next month to check out just what Tim has built using the new engines, and to test a few choice morsels out on the HPA-enabled range at Bespoke Airsoft too…

As always, watch this space for more as we know it!
