A new year and the first new issue of 2024… what a week it’s been!
As usual we’ve not posted much this week to keep ISSUE 158 front and centre here on the website, but behind the scenes things are really gathering pace as the AA team prepare to head off to Las Vegas for SHOT SHOW 2024, and another team are putting the final touches in place for our visit to IWA 2024 next month… as Stewbacca often says, “busy, busy fellow shooters”!
But our joyous work goes on as we start to pull together ISSUE 159, and the weekend beckons; so what will the AA Crew be up to this weekend?
Stewbacca said in our chat group “a decent sized group of the Team Taiji guys and I will be travelling down (very early doors, I might add) to Miaoli to check out a newer site in an old university which looks like a lot of fun to play at for our first time, followed by dinner with the CivDef crew in the evening, probably to discuss the election aftermath and how to expedite preparations of people here…”
Miguel is getting back to full speed (does he have another speed???) and told us “for this weekend plans… and more plans! This Sunday, I’m planning to hit our secondary field with the guys and maybe invite another team. My goal is to check how the field is, do some exercises with the guys and overall, just decompress from the week.”
Jimmy’s tech-work never stops either; he said “back in the shop for me as I’ve got a heap of work that I have procrastinated over for a while but people need their toys back so I shall be firmly planted at the bench. I have a couple of basic services to do and a few custom builds one of which is a franken-DMR that requires unfudging; if I’m honest I’m not looking forward to that, I can pretty much guarantee that none of the parts the owner has fitted will work together in harmony and it will end up taking hours off my life…”
And Ben is planning to get back to an old fave of his as “this weekend has been a long time coming; I plan on zeroing the sights on my ICS L86 LSW and letting the old girl stretch her legs and unwind the gears! It’s been some time since I let BB’s fly from this beauty so in the words of Little Richard “Im gonna have me some fun“!
Bill reports a somewhat “interesting” week; “it’s been a week of highs and lows for me; on the low-side I’ve been fire-fighting with Facebook as they continue to hammer airsoft in a thoroughly unprecedented and arbitrary fashion… so many posts have been removed this week, so many pages either curtailed or removed in their entirety that it’s scary… and it appears that any of us that run pages are under personal attack too as many folk have found themselves on the receiving end of the “ban hammer”…
“But, life goes on… and on the high-side I for one am looking forward to slinging some BBs on the range this weekend as my personal testing program continues; I’ll be taking the EMG/CYMA Noveske (pictured) up to the woods to shoot more just because IT ROCKS, along with the ROSSI Sentinel and EMG F1 FIREARMS SBR that I’ve been putting through their paces for a while now… I seriously need to get some shooting done and leave the interwebz behind for a while…”
Heading towards SHOT, Dan commented in the group “Winter has at last arrived here – and in full force! Any games that were scheduled have now been canceled due to the snow and unseasonably cold temperatures, as well as the associated travel hazard one can expect. Every year it seems as if there are fewer and fewer plough trucks about. Seeing as this will be the weekend before I head off to SHOT 24′, I’ll instead be trying to get on top of a few easy builds and minor little projects so I’m not too far behind when I return. Now that we’re on the upside of 0°F, the shop isn’t as miserable as it was when we were sitting at -15°F”
Boycie, in his usual laconic and understated fashion told us “I’m not doing much to be honest… just a visit to an airport, flight to Las Vegas with the team (Lil Stu, Dan and Rookie Stever) to cover Shot Show for the magazine. I may see an a few things of interest… watch out for our daily reports hot from the show!”
So, with the AA Crew ramping back up after the Xmas and NY break it’s time to get 2024 rolling; as Boycie said we’ll be posting up the daily highlights from our team at SHOT (what happens in Vegas will NOT stay in Vegas… mostly…) so keep your eyes peeled for that… META allowing of course!
For now though we’ll wish you all a great weekend, and if like us you’re working in the workshop, shooting on the range, or out playing then Play hard, Play safe, and above all, Play with Honour!
