We’re heading towards the end of another office week here at AAHQ, and it’s been another busy one with the next new issue, #171, being worked on and prepared already for the 15th of February!

With the SHOT 2025 team now safely home after their adventures in Las Vegas they’re busy finishing up their report from the show, and we’ll tell you right now that it’s gonna be a sizeable chunk of intel… we may even have to push ISSUE 171 up again by a few pages so that we can fit everything in!

But of course another weekend has been spotted, and although some of the AA Crew “out east” are still celebrating the advent of the Year of the Snake, it appears that range days, workshop sessions, and game days are very much on the cards this weekend..

Kicking things off Stewbacca told us that “we may end up going to a newer site on the outskirts of Taipei if the weather holds and I can get a ride. Beyond that I’ve been off for Chinese New Year and have next week booked off to take some personal holiday and time to go down the east coast on the slow train and see some beautiful places and people!”

Miguel said “this weekend, we were invited to take part in an event called Cargo Drop. It will take place in one of the very few “commercial fields” in Portugal called MegaCampo. It’s a field filled with different scenarios, and from the looks of it, we will use them all”, whilst Rich reported “I’m off to South Central Airsoft on Sunday, a new site to me!”

Ben chipped in to say “ “weather dependent” I’ll be tweaking my night-play set ups; I had to make some adjustments, acquired myself some new metal plate targets for practice shooting and drilling, and I’ll be testing out my new Bravo Six NVG boonie! It’s all fun and games…”

Bill said “back to the range again for me as I have final testing to round up on the latest ICS MK18 models… I am REALLY loving the little PDW (yeah, go figure that, me actually liking a PDW!) as it really has some grunt, but the RIS III version is proving to be pretty tasty too… not that I like a MK18 or anything… I’ve also got to finish writing up my notes on the latest J-SERIES from Specna Arms as I finished the shoot test earlier this week… both are scheduled for the new issue so I’d better get my skates on!”

Dan (pictured this week with the new KWA KWA ATP-Z which you’ll also find evaluated in ISSUE 171!) commented “for this upcoming weekend, I’m planning on finally diving into the Ares Vz.58 build for my buddy so he can have it before his game in March. I’ve scoured the interwebs and the jury is very much out on whether the EFCS ETU will peacefully co-exist with brushless motors. So on account of this and the scarcity of obtaining replacement Vz.58 EFCS units and the risk of bricking it, I’m changing plans and going to install a nicer brushed Neodymium motor and some upgraded gears instead. I’m also going to rear-wire it for better battery storage and change up some of the external configuration too. Should be a sweet build when it’s all said and done!”

The SHOT team are of course due some R&R, but Boycie told us “I’ll be finishing off the Shot Show report and then inspecting the inside of my eyelids” whilst L’il Stu commented “I’ll be recovering from Shot Show and downloading the pics wot i took!”

We hope that you really enjoyed all the “dailies” from Las Vegas, and we’re sure that Boycie, Li’l Stu and Steve have still got a lot to tell us! We’re also starting to gear up now for IWA at the end of February; our “dance card” is certainly filling up well so we’re certain there’s going to be even more to report from the German show too!

For now though we hope that you’ve got some airsoft plans of your own this weekend, and if you’re out playing then… as always… Play hard, Play safe, and above all, Play with Honour!
