Weekend spotted, and it’s a big one for a number of the AA LEGION and our friends across the water in the USA as we’d like to wish you, one and all, a VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
And yes, the season of holiday is fast approaching for us all, but as always there’s a lot to be getting on with at AAHQ as we’ve got one more issue to get out before we can settle back and watch “Die Hard” which is SO totally a Christmas movie…
Bill’s back in the office after his visit to spend time with Miguel (pictured this week during the ANA livestream at the event) and the Portuguese airsoft community at EXPOAIRSOFT, and it sounds like quite the show, celebrating airsoft and the community is a massively positive way… congratulations to all involved in a first-rate event, and we’ll have the report on this in ISSUE 169 on 15 December.
But as the old saying goes “the presses never stop” and there’s always new airsoft adventures to be had, and as active players the AA Crew are out there seeking out the stories around the world that we know you love to read about!
This weekend of course is all about the new issue for some, and Bill told us that “I’ll be in the office as I need to bring together the new issue for our Monday copy deadline, so I’ll be mostly behind my screen getting the edits and layups done… last weekend gave me a superb airsoft-fix though and meeting all the awesome players in Lisbon showed me once again what a fabulous airsoft community we have worldwide!”
Stewbacca though, MOA Report (also coming in ISSUE 169 next month!) completed, is back to it, and said “Team TaiJi are heading north to the abandoned factory in Sanzhi and will likely do some squad coordination training after we finish the usual skirmish rounds, as I don’t really have any long guns on hand that need newly reviewing just now I might take the VFC FAL and RATech Noveske N4 out for a spin to have an enjoyable #ShootyFunTimes experience and work up some more data points for an upcoming reloaded review on the FAL I’ve been trying to get around to having had it for 2 years plus and finding some things to break thus far.
I also have both Glock 17 and 34 models of the Tril Tactical John Wick style TTI Combat Master kits to make a start on as sidearm and IPSC usage reviews, I suppose… And a bunch of maintenance and repairs along with article writing backlog to get sorted early next week now I’ve gotten MOA 2024 finished for next issue and just had the level III competition down south last weekend.
The magic never ends, fellow shooters. Never enough hours in the day.”
After the expo, Miguel and the GHOSTS are back out too; “this Sunday we will hit one of our fields with the new guys that joined the team 2 weeks ago. Our goal will be to have them go through the most basic stuff in Airsoft, how to set up your normal gear, shooting positions and technics, and then we will probably hold a few small games/exercises.”
Ben will be “zero’ing my IR laser on the MP5k and doing some night shooting practice under the new NV… also got video editing to do from last Sundays day and night game to get posted!” while Boycie said “unfortunately no airsoft for me as running a Level 2 UKPSA Rifle match…”; I think we can forgive Boycie for that!
Over the water Dan told us that “as it’s Thanksgiving weekend here I’ll be taking a few days off and spending it with the family and recovering from the Turkey coma… but I’ve got a VFC MPX that’ll be an easy weekend tune up if I feel like I need a little escape from the holidays!” and new Legionnaire Matt added “it’s a toss-up on account of Thanksigving, but if I do anything it’ll be my usual practice with the boys!”
So, even with a holiday for some it’s still very much business as usual for the AA Crew, with a right old mix of airsoft and shooting-related funtimes going on! Remember, if you’re looking for a BLACK FRIDAY deal then there’s still a lot out there on the virtual table to pick from, and of course if you’re playing this weekend then, as always, Play hard, Play safe, and above all, Play with Honour!
