A shorter office week winds down at AAHQ thanks to the UK Bank Holiday on Monday, but an awful lot has got done as we get into preparing ISSUE 174 for layup!
Reviews, reports, interviews and features have all been landed thanks to the AA Crew around the globe, and now it’s time to put it all together ready for 15 MAY! All that remains is for some final rangework this weekend as we take all of the RED CELL AK AEGs (like the LCT ZKS-74UN shown in our image this week) out to their final shoots prior to a final update in this category.
But while this is going on here in the UK, the team are of course busy wherever they may be; Stewbacca told us that in Taiwan “Team TaiJi will be heading to the outdoor CQB place in Yangmei again for some close quarters action and team training afterwards. I think I’ve settled on the FNC and M16A2 combo for the upcoming MilSim after working on them both and the OSW which proved more problematic last shoot, so I’ll stick to what I know works reliably on that front. Maybe I’ll break out the MP5SD3 or M733 for a change this weekend…”
Our Portuguese contingent are also busy as Miguel said “This weekend we are in full throttle towards our 17th birthday event; we will have 100 players fighting in 3 different mission styles during all morning, followed by a BBQ and many giveaways!” Bruno added “Sara and I will be out there as well managing and helping out with the organization, Sara the photographer and me, I’ll be making sure players comply with our laws, with the chrono in one hand and the tip of their replicas in the other, no player shall pass with more than 1.34Joules! Also I will be there to give away three sets of 3D printed silencers I made…”
Over in the USA Dan chipped in to say “apparently mid-May is a bit of a hotspot for MilSim events around the country, so I’ve been in a mad sprint getting people’s builds squared away in time for that. I’m nearly to the bottom of the pile of builds here that have a strict deadline to meet and should hopefully have the last of those wrapped up by this weekend!” Matt added to this rather cryptically that he’ll be “throwing blank grenades at college students…” (in-game just to be clear!), whilst Robbie said “I’m hoping to find my AWOL magazines for my AKS74U GBB, and then run some drills this weekend. I have been debating returning to teaching RBTwA reality-based training with airsoft lately…”
Closer to our AAHQ “home” Bill said “we’re right in the midst of re-testing all our AEG AK replicas, both classic and tacticool, to see how they’re bearing up after some pretty intense use over the years… we’ll be updating our AK category in RED CELL next issue, so it’s time to do all the final re-chronos to see how consistent power levels have remained over time… thankfully it looks like a warm and sunny weekend ahead, so being on the woods range laying down BBs and clanging the steels will be a joy!”
Ben said “I’ve got a night game up at the Citadel Prison site locally… I need more night games in my life!” and whilst Boycie is taking some much-needed downtime, Li’l Stu commented that “I’m house-sitting for some friends and I may well take the XM177 over and see what sort of range/accuracy it’s doing currently; I have two acres of garden, very long with no neighbours to play with, so I can really test it out to my heart’s content!” Rich added that “I’m not in-game this weekend, but I am helping out at a build day at local site Redcon-2”
All this just goes to show that one way or another the AA Crew are always busy with something airsoft-related, and ultimately this is what gives AIRSOFT ACTION the depth of understanding that we show in our content every day, every month, and every year consistently!
As we always stress, the entire AA Crew are immersed in all things airsoft, whether it be as active players, regular shooters, airsoft tech-magi, or indeed just getting stuck in at their local site to make games better for other players… this is something that we believe makes the AA Crew unique in the world of airsoft digital media, and even though some of the crew are “knocking on a bit” they’re still active and out there in their communities getting work done.
With some big games and event ahead in the “summer calendar” we hope that we’ll get to meet even more of you, and enjoy hearing your airsoft stories, perhaps whilst sharing a few of our own in return! And with the weekend nearly upon us we hope that you’ll be out in-game yourselves, and that you’ll Play Hard, Play Safe, and above all… Play with Honour!
