There it is then, it’s all in the title this week, as this is our final team “Something For The Weekend” post of 2024… where has the year gone?
Well, for us it’s gone on airsoft, and in spite of all the “social media f!!k-wittery”, it’s gone on an awful lot of airsoft, and although it seems to have flown by we’ve crammed a LOT into the last twelve months…
This time next week Bill will take over this slot for his annual “State of the Onion” overview, but we’re pleased to say already that 2024 has been massively successful for AIRSOFT ACTION, and we’re in a strong position to hit all that 2025 has in store for us 100% head-on!
So, to wind things up for now, Bill told us that “it’s been a GREAT week; we’ve finished off ISSUE 169 which will go live on Sunday in time for Christmas so you can all have something naughty and nice, and I also had the great pleasure this week of visiting the VORSK crew to check out and test-shoot the final production samples of the long-awaited VMP-2… and oh boy, has the wait been worth it! The first models should be hitting stores early next year, and for those of you that already have a VMP-1 I can guarantee that you’re going to love the VMP-2! That said, the program is far from complete as I believe there will be some more news to come at IWA… but for now I’m sworn to secrecy…”
Miguel kicked off our AA Crew Team Chat this week, and said “this Saturday, we are having our team Christmas dinner, which is always a special event among the team. It was supposed to be our last event of the year, but last Sunday we found our secondary field with few conditions to play, and we don’t want to end the year with a sour note. So we will have a small skirmish Sunday!”
Stewbacca as always was close behind and told us all “I will be travelling south to Taichung and Changhua over the weekend to bear witness and report upon PewLogic’s final SpeedQB tournament since our first one with N00b_soft at the wheel all those years back, he’s intending on returning to the US at some point so is winding down his involvement in the scene he helped found here, so I’ll likely get some coverage and maybe an industry insider angle out of it.
Also planning on visiting the 4UAD squad early next week while I’m down there (oooh err) in their new digs and finally get the story on them going as well as some new product samples and info to interweave into the next few issues. Not much opportunity for gaming for me at the tail end of the year unfortunately. I’ll get some time on the 29th all being well, but, lots to be done, fellow shooters…”
Some of the crew though are already winding-sown towards Christmas; Dan said “there’s no Airsoft on the immediate horizon for me, though I do want to make an effort to getting around to check out CQB Underground which is located about 60 miles away; looks like they’re wrangling up a group of players to make a trip over there in early January, so I might hop on the bus with them. I have nothing explicitly configured for CQB yet, but this might give me some incentive to do a winter build project or change up one of my existing Airsoft pews for the purpose.
In the meanwhile, I’m just plugging along with the normal repair and upgrade work and a few more updates to the new website that I launched this week. That was a pretty big project in itself, but I set the goal of getting it done before the end of the year, so I’m proud of myself for actually accomplishing that.”
Ben (aptly pictured in his Christmas finery this week!) is doing “nothing more than just some range shooting for me this weekend….but big shout out to you all and wishing you all the best of Christmas and New Years, let’s smash next year harder than we did this one!”
Jase followed this theme and said “Xmas love goes out to all our industry friends wishing them all a very Merry Christmas, and to all our readers all the best for 2025!”
Always one to take things to the max though, Jimmy chimed in with this comment that put us all properly in a Christmas mood; “The chestnuts are roasting, your stockings are hung by the chimney with care and Jack Frost has just begun nipping at your nose. Christmas has arrived, and that means it’s time to check your list twice because it’s officially time to hand out Christmas cards.
There are two types of people in this world, those of us who start writing our Christmas cards in October and those of us who are rushing to our local post box right before Christmas Eve. I am the Christmas Eve guy!
I love Christmas, the only time of year you sit in front of a dead tree eating candy from an oversized sock. They say the best Christmas gifts come from the heart … that’s not exactly true as most airsoft guns come from Taiwan, it says so on the box LOL!
To all who read this I wish you all a very merry Christmas! Thank you for a wonderful 2024, and here’s to many more.”
There’s no topping that, is there?
To all of you out there, fellow players and industry folk alike, thanks for a truly magnificent year, and remember if you’re out playing over the holiday period… Play hard, Play safe, and above all, Play with Honour!
