As ISSUE 168 prepares to roll off to our publishing platforms next week (another awesome issue, well done the AA Crew!), the SHOW SEASON is now upon us and Stewbacca is poised cobra-like to provide up-to-the-minute AIRSOFT ACTION coverage of MOA 2024!
Airsoft is ultimately all about having great times and fabulous experiences with friends, and for us there’s no better place (other than in-game of course!) to find this than at a major airsoft show! As “show season” commences Stewbacca is on the ground with a posse of international airsoft media friends in tow at MOA 2024 and he just checked in to let us know how DAY 1 of the Taipei show has been for him… and what airsoft goodness has already caught his eye!
“So, #MOA2024 DAY 1, fellow shooters…
Actually despite the general lack of sleep over the last few nights and last night’s revelry with the foreign and media crew, I’ve had a very productive and not as tiring day as I’d feared! As always it’s great to see the beautiful people out in force, seeing friends from afar and that are on island but I just haven’t had chance to see lately, the people, as always, make it what it is.
Products that caught my eye today… most are from some of the smaller or newer outfits as it happens…
Amarok are a brand I’ve been involved with testing products for lately since POLK4 and their emergence, and they have a very durable reliably feeding and easy-loading 250 round polymer magazine for AEGs which are looking very favourable and a number of my team are looking at acquiring their products. I’m looking forward to further testing and evaluation and hopefully we’ll get a more detailed article about the company as it’s just starting out.
Maple Leaf were showing me their very interesting iteration of the breakdown rifle concept, with their new GBBR which has a twist-off front-end that can be rapidly removed with the actuation of a latch and quickly replaced along with the outer and inner barrels to allow the user to more easily store and carry a GBBR platform or change the front end length for different site and power requirements.
Finally Kingdom Tech gave me a sample of their new pistol speedloader system which allows you to easily and conveniently lift the follower up the magazine track using the prongs on the nose of the speedloader before backfilling the magazine with BBs… ideal for IPSC types like myself who hate the thumb busting nail breaking exercise of loading.”
So, that’s MOA DAY 1 down, and we’re sure that Stewbacca will now be out with fellow media types and friends visiting from overseas… and as we all know, notes will be shared and exciting developments from the best airsoft companies in Taiwan (and further afield of course!) will be discussed and analysed, so be sure to check in here tomorrow to find out what DAY 2 will bring!
But what of the rest of the AA Crew?
Bill told us that “ISSUE 168 is really flying along now, and as it’s due to head off early next week to start the upload process with all the great publishing platforms we work with to ensure proper global availability, that means that I shall largely be behind my monitor pulling the finishing touches together! Add to that it’s MOA weekend and I’ll be waiting in readiness to get Stewbacca’s reports up onto the website as well… hopefully though I’ll get just a little rangetime if the weather holds…”
But the rest of the guys are out and about as usual; Ben told us “I’m out Sunday to Cool Under Fire again! Other than that I’ll be getting some under D’NVG shooting action in to practice for an end-of-month night game; hopefully my best friend will be going to that game too and we’ll both be rocking the NODs, so we should get some sweet two-man-team domination action!”
Dan added that “it’s Pegasus MilSim’s season-closer this weekend, so barring major snow between now and then, I’ll be in attendance to get some trigger time in before the long dry spell of winter hits!”
Miguel and the GHOSTs are hard at it and back in-game; “this Saturday we will be present at one of the most expected games of the year, Dystopia 2. A game filled with story, role-play, zombies, actors and on an amazing field (an old gunpowder factory!). Last year, the first game of the series was one of the best events in 2023, so this year, the stakes are high!”
And to conclude this week Stewbacca told everyone that “I’m not sure about springing cobra-like, maybe more like rolling out of bed in a pig-like manner given sleep deprivation as of late. Of course I will be mostly cruising the booths at MOA 2024, and with some US friends in town who want to get some Taiwan airsoft game-time in as well I’m going to take them along to Yangmei with team TaiJi on Sunday morning for some CQB GBB SMG funtimes before we return to the MOA show with some of my teammates in tow.”
So, a right mix for all of us as always, and we hope that all of our friends at MOA 2024 have a GREAT show whether they be exhibiting or visiting! For those of you with your own game-time planned for this weekend… you know what’s coming, don’t you?
Yup, Play hard, Play safe, and above all, Play with Honour!
