It’s our “quiet weekend” at AAHQ as all the work has been done for a new issue to go live on Monday, so we can all take a breath, and chill! That doesn’t however mean no airsoft, of course it doesn’t, and many of the AA Crew are just heading out quietly to their local sites to get their game on, or hit the range just because it’s what we love to do.
Bill said that “the NamSoft Summer Special for 2024 is ready to roll, final edits done, and it’s ready to upload over the weekend! It’s a real 106-page beast, and we all hope that we’ll provide some inspiration and information that will perhaps let some of you delver into a different side of airsoft… with that done it means I can just head up to the woods range for some shooty-fun, and as I have the G&G LevAR 7” to play around with, it looks like it’ll be a bit old skool, lever-action style!”
Stewbacca though is out and about as always, and told us in our end-of-week group-chat “this weekend is going to be a departure from the norm for me, I’ll be doing “red eyes and red dots”! Heading home after the day-job on Saturday I’ll be preparing my competition gear and heading to town before public transport ends for the day before a nearly 0300 bus departure that will take me and the others from team SPPT all the way to Kaohsiung; hopefully we can all get some sleep on the intercity bus! We’ll them transfer over towards the East coast for the TPSA competition ground and get into a Level 2 one-day comp before heading back to Taipei on the High Speed Rail that night… it’ll be my first time competing with the newly-opened production-optics-variant division using the Shadow 2 Orange and a red dot sight, both of which have been making things feel like I’m on cheat mode since I put them together.”
Rich said “I may visit F&O The Jungle on Sunday; the Jungle is a good, a sneaky site that runs lower numbers. The most I’ve ever seen there is 30, and my first time there it was eight a side. Otherwise I’m busy setting up my new workshop space…”. Miguel told us that it’s another active weekend for The GHOSTs as “this Sunday, we are planning to hold a concentrated training session with our newest members. This year we are going to open up a new “recruit”, so before that, the newer guys must become full-fledged members.”
And talking of “workshops” Dan shared that “I’m mostly playing catch-up after taking a week off for camping! I’ve got in an ancient Trigger Happy M240B in that’s having assorted issues and looks to definitely be overdue for a nice tune up. I need to tear it down and send the owner an estimate for repair and upgrade. I’ve gotten the itch to buy a new gat too, but my rule is usually to sell one from the collection to make room for the new one; so I ended up talking myself out of my custom KWA Troy M7A1 PDW build… I’ll probably regret it later, but I console myself that I can always build another lol; I need to switch out the gearbox in it for the TITAN compatible version so I can get it sent off to its new owner. Then if I have time, I need to tear down a VFC MK12 SPR for its components so they can be transferred to a KWA RM4A1 that’s going to be rebuilt into a MK12…”
So, lots of different pursuits, and lots of different styles of airsoft as usual from us, and one of our “Men in Japan”, Tama, has checked in early with his awesome report on the TM Saiga-12 SBS tri-shot GBB (pictured this week), and he said “since it’s a very novel gun, with Tokyo Marui’s state of the art GBB technology, the tri-shot system, a good build quality, and for those who don’t care about modifying their guns, this is the perfect beast for you! Or if you just plain-out wanna overpower people on the field with a full-auto tri-shot, yeah…. this gun will do the trick!”
