Although these days AIRSOFT ACTION is 100% an international magazine and online airsoft news platform, AAHQ is still in the UK and we take a great interest in what goes on when it comes to our”home turf”!
Jacob from the United Kingdom Airsoft Players Union (UKAPU) has been in touch to bring us news of their ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING; for those further afield, UKAPU is an unincorporated non-profit association formed by a dedicated group of airsoft skirmishers to help protect and strengthen our hobby here in the UK. By providing a united and official organisation that strives to represent all players, they can far more effectively engage in discussion with the government, other organisations, and the press when skirmishing comes under threat.
They told us;
Following the meeting on the 22nd of June 2023, the United Kingdom Airsoft Players Union (UKAPU) would like to announce the results of the election of the interim committee. The committee is now temporarily formed of the following:
• Chairman – Tim Haines
• Vice Chairman – Tom Pritchard
• Registrar – David Weston
• Treasurer – James Williams
• Press Officer – Jacob Wright
In line with the association constitution, these positions will be re-elected at the next Annual General Meeting; to be held online on the 3rd of August 2023. Any member is able to nominate themselves for a committee position. These nominations should be made by the 24th of July.
Tim Haines, Interim Chairman said, “We would like to thank David for his dedication and hard work over the past few years, he has been a hugely valuable asset to UKAPU throughout some difficult times and we are eternally grateful for his leadership. It is my intention to carry on the good work started during his time as Chairman, to be a positive force within the UK airsoft community and to continue to support our members by doing our utmost for them”.
Tom Pritchard, Interim Vice-Chairman said, “I’d like to thank the committee for putting their confidence in me regarding the role of Vice-Chairman. There was a lot of positive energy following the nominations, and after a discussion with Tim I am very excited to continue working with my fellow committee members for the benefit of airsoft and its players within the UK.”
UKAPU today announced that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be hosted online, on the UKAPU Discord server at 1900 on the 3rd of August 2023.
The AGM will be an opportunity for all UKAPU members to discuss subjects on the agenda, raised by writing by the 24th of July, elect committee members, and shape the future of UKAPU for airsoft in the UK.
Tim said, “The AGM is an opportunity for our members to be actively involved in the future of UKAPU and the work we undertake. Aside from the election of officers which takes place at each AGM, it’s an opportunity for members to put forward their questions and points to the committee. We are looking forward to speaking with all those who can attend, and hope that we can work together to move forward and improve support not only for members, but airsoft in the UK as a whole.”
Tom commented, “UKAPU has always been run by players for the players, and I would encourage those who have airsofts’ best interests at heart to join us. We currently have vacant positions within the committee, as regional representatives and as consultants to assist us with protecting and promoting airsoft in the UK.”
Any member of UKAPU can add an item to the agenda of the AGM or put themselves forward to become a member of the committee. Any questions, content or nominations must be submitted to secretary no later than the 24th of July.
It’s great to see UKAPU moving forward strongly again, and we’re looking forward to seeing the guys in person down at the UK NATIONAL AIRSOFT FESTIVAL in August which promises to be a blast again!
