One of the things that became very apparent to the AA Crew at IWA 23 was the sheer volume of manufacturers that are actively targeting the crucial “mid-price” section of the market!
Whilst we know there are many players out there (like some of us here at Airsoft Action it must be said!) that spend A LOT of money on their primary AEG or GBBR there’s also a large number of committed players that just want a solid, non-nonsense platform that’s going to serve them without fail on the skirmish field each and every weekend without breaking the bank!
But that’s in no way saying that you can’t have an AEG for relatively little money that will provide just that; performance. durability and dependability! One of the manufacturers the team spent some time with is DELTA ARMORY, and what they offer are most definitely not the most expensive AEGS on the market, but neither are they the cheapest, but they do provide an awful lot for the money.
We’ve chosen this morning to concentrate on the DELTA ARMORY MK18 ALPHA as although it is but one of many models of the ever-growing DELTA ARMORY line, and it’s very obviously inspired by one of our favourite CQB ARs, the “Mighty Mk18”!
The ALPHA series is characterised by full metal construction throughout, and the trigger is CNC Type A for better trigger response. The stock is easy to position and inserting a battery is straightforward. You get the classic “DD Style” rail system, so it’s a cinch to attach all your accessories, and the AEG comes with adjustable “irons” (okay “polymers”) as standard. The outer barrel is finished with a 14 mm left-hand thread, totally necessary for fitting your “can” of choice!
High quality internal parts consist of:
– SHS Piston with full metal teeth
– SHS delayer chip
– Quick change spring QRS Gen2
– Spring Guide with bearing
– QRS motor quick change
– Rotary Hop-up chamber
– Reinforced gearbox for 120-130 spring
– 6.03mm inner barrel
– High-quality 8mm ball bearings
– durable metal gears and SHS feeder lever
It’s gotta be said that this is another contender for the mid-price “Mk18” style AEG in our eyes, and with a bit of effort we feel that you could have a very cool “SF-inspired” AEG for a very sensible price.
We’re speaking to the guys at DELTA ARMORY right now, and we hope that we’ll soon have a test sample to get on the range so we can REALLY give you the lowdown… as usual, WATCH THIS SPACE!
