Our good friend Chris over at Airsoft & MilSim News gave us the heads up this week on even more developments from the Evike Manufacturing Group (EMG), and it’s 100% too good not to share!
The ew EMG Helios / CYMA Platinum QBS Daniel Defense DDM4 is exactly what it says on the can, another very interesting collaboration between some real big hitters in the airsoft world with a cool licence in place too! Now we all know EMG (who could not these days!) and of course we all know CYMA (who have been doing some righteous “AR things” recently!), but Helios probably needs some explanation; Helios by EMG brings a whole new line of never-before-seen products to the airsoft market. The Helios vision is to recruit more players to enjoy the game by offering the same high quality internals, the same high performance, and the same level of care in the QC process as its bigger brothers in the EMG lineup, but at a much more affordable price point.
And the new DDM4 looks great to us!

And there’s even some new CYMA “tech” involved in this new AEG as it benefits from the Quick Buffer System (QBS) which allows for rapid spring changes that can be done by hand. This efficient new system only requires the removal of your buffer tube castle nut to gain access to the captured guide rod and spring. No longer is it necessary to break open your receiver or even remove your stock from the buffer tube to change a spring.
Patterned after the original ArmaLite AR-15, the “M4” has gone through numerous updates and evolutions (which we’ll be looking at in detail in Issue 130 as it happens!) through the years to become the go-to choice for military personnel, law enforcement agencies, and civilian shooting enthusiasts alike. The Daniel Defense licensed RIS II handguard is a free-floating, two piece, ultra lightweight front rail system. It provides a full length mounting surface for all 20mm Picatinny compatible accessories: From grips, lights, PEQ boxes and anything in between. The handguard system is designed to accommodate an M203 grenade launcher with no special tools required. Integrated Ambidextrous QD Sling Swivel Mounts Points provide modular, limited rotation to suit your preferences.
All in all this looks to be quite the package, and with a pre-order price of US$299 at source it looks to be a very affordable one given the parts and tech on offer; we look forward to seeing this in due course, and as always we’ll report back in full when we do!
